Biography
Chris Raines grew up and lives about 20 miles west of Atlanta, GA in the city of Douglasville. At the age of seven he started playing guitar after buying his first electric guitar he purchased with pennies he had saved an entire year. At the age of 12 he started writing songs and went on to become a published songwriter for several of his own bands and others that span many genres of music. Chris owns a small studio and record label (DSTAR28 ENTERTAINMENT) from which he has produced many albums and songs for himself and other bands in the Metro Atlanta area. In the late 90s/early 2000s he was the frontman for the band Daystar that found some local success.
On December 17th, 2001 Chris released his first solo album titled Mirror Hotel. It went on to find radio success with the song It's only My Life. Mirror Hotel was released to multiple music stores in the Metro Atlanta area. From 2002 to 2009 seven more solo albums would be released for a total of eight solo albums that found radio and internet success. Chris was featured as artist of the month several times across multiple internet radio websites.
Musically, Chris was inspired at an early age by artists across multiple genres.
After experiences in several bands, overseeing live audio for events, songwriting, artist development, and other music ventures Chris was convicted to move on from secular music. His inspiration for songwriting is now from the word of God through the Holy Spirit. "I definitely don't regret my musical background. I've learned a great deal. Had many positive experiences. I've always been one to write from a positive approach. Now, its changed. God has me where I need to be; making and playing music for his glory," says Chris on his new inspiration in songwriting.
Chris is married to his wife Becky and has two sons. He is the Student Minister at Dorsett Shoals Baptist Church. He currently is pursuing his Doctorate from Liberty University that is preparing him for further ministry and Christian leadership. Additionally, Chris is a certified Neurofeedback practitioner and has been working with neglected youth for over a decade. His professional expertise includes QEEG/Brainmapping, Neurosciences, and Neuroeducational research.
